Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: [It has] visual goofiness and flights of thespian bravura. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Sep 7, 2011

Fresh: Adams would be pleased. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Aug 14, 2007

Rotten: The problem is not that the film debases the book but that movies themselves are too capacious a home for such comedy, with its tea-steeped English musings and its love of bitty, tangential gags. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, May 21, 2005

Rotten: Although Hitchhiker starts out a total gas, it doesn't have enough fuel to sustain the ride, ultimately amounting to little more than some amusing gags strung together in search of a story. – Teresa Wiltz, Washington Post, Jun 24, 2010

Great Movie

Martin Freeman and Mos Def as weird as they are paired in this movie, are as well casted as any other comedy. Then you add the underrated Zoey you have a great comedy for the family.

The Greatest

Was a great movie. Not as good as the book. BUY IT!!!!!!

So Long and Thanks for All the Laughs

I loved the books before I ever stepped foot into the theatre to see this film and that is the biggest reason why I enjoyed it so much. If you love the Hitchhikers series as well, with all of Douglas Adams zany humor, then you'll love this movie, especially because of the new elements and visuals it adds. For newcomers, I hope you're very open to the seemingly nonsensical. But if you're willing to just sit back and relax, then be prepared to laugh your arse off.
