Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The Hunting Ground explores its disturbing subject so thoroughly that the documentary feels more like a horror film - a slasher movie where the psyches of its young, smart victims are in tatters.
Fresh: From its first moments, the new documentary "The Hunting Ground" instills a sense of dread that is very, very tough to shake.
Fresh: The movie needs to be seen and discussed by everyone within shouting distance of the college experience: parents, students (of both genders), administrators, alumni, coaches - the list goes on.
Fresh: " '71" succeeds as an action thriller, but with enough complexity to keep the brain engaged. The film is also a reminder of the byproducts of hatred.
A truly harrowing reality check but also an inspiring look at the actions some students are taking to try and end the circle of violence and inaction perpetuated on college campuses and provide support to the countless victims of sexual assault. Every single college-bound student should have to watch this and talk about it with their parents, friends and teachers. Better yet, simply everyone should watch this film; an incredible example of powerful visual storytelling.
Incredibly insightful and well made — a must see film!
Anyone Going to College Needs to See This
This movie/documentary alerts incoming freshman and all students of a pervasive problem on the campuses of Colleges and Universities in the US. Don't ignore this information but use it wisely in planning ahead for your college years. Awareness is the first line of defense, so become aware.
This movie also points out the fact that administrations will not be honest about or help students with abuse or rape, they will not report these crimes or cooperate with officials. Knowing these facts any student - Male & Female -- it happens to BOTH sexes -- should take rape awareness classes and learn avoidance and protection. If the worse happens despite your preparations, then go straight to the nearest rape crises center - don't bathe, don't remove your clothes - they are valuable evidence. And remember: it's not your fault.
