About the Movie
Based on a true story, U.S. Customs agent Robert “Bob” Mazur (Bryan Cranston) goes deep undercover to infiltrate Pablo Escobar’s blood-soaked drug trafficking scene plaguing the nation in 1985 by posing as slick, money-laundering businessman Bob Musella. Teamed with impulsive and streetwise fellow agent Emir Abreu (John Leguizamo) and rookie agent posing as his fiancé Kathy Ertz (Diane Kruger), Mazur befriends Escobar’s top lieutenant Roberto Alcaino (Benjamin Bratt). Navigating a vicious criminal network in which the slightest slip-up could cost him his life, Mazur risks it all building a case that leads to indictments of 85 drug lords and the corrupt bankers who cleaned their dirty money, along with the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, one of the largest money-laundering banks in the world.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This is a summer movie for grownups, the kind that reminds you how gratifying it can be to sit down uninterrupted and watch actors work on the big screen.
Fresh: It's distinguished by its craft and verve.
Fresh: [Cranston and Leguizamo] give ample reason for a trip to the multiplex, even if director Brad Furman ("The Lincoln Lawyer") can't maintain the film's gritty, immersive tone.
Rotten: There aren't enough adrenalin moments to supercharge a film that gets bogged down in exposition.
not a total bust
Great performances by all and there were a few nail biting moments. All that said - the familiar theme that an undercover agent develops empathy for those he wishes to imprison wasn’t realized as successfully as "Donnie Brasco" or even "American Hustle". Additionally- the looming danger that the undercover operation would be exposed was presented in a disjointed way- keeping the potential of memorable dramatic tension at a minimum.
Who does these reviews ???
I'm done with iTunes. These ratings they use are skewed. Every movie is rated 5 stars and they are junk.
Storyline makes no sense. Had I not watched the trailer, I would have turned it off somewhere around 40 minutes out of sheer boredom.
