Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's not much of a movie. But raging bull Robert De Niro, suited up to play for humor and heart, proves he can be a world-class charmer. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Sep 25, 2015

Fresh: In keeping everything so polite, The Intern, while being a pleasant and watchable movie, is also entirely ephemeral. Maybe that's why, like Meyers' other films, The Intern will likely be so re-watchable, too. – Lindsey Bahr, Associated Press, Sep 27, 2015

Fresh: This earnest, effusive haut-bourgeois fantasy, by the writer and director Nancy Meyers, runs roughshod over rational skepticism with the force of her life experience. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Oct 8, 2015

Rotten: "The Intern" is like one of those candies you put in your mouth that starts off tasting sweet - until it suddenly turns lip-puckering sour. – Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger, Sep 25, 2015

Customer Reviews

Actually pretty good! A PERFECT movie to rent.

I expected this to be a movie where the names of the actors would be relied on to sell some mid-level movie, but this is actually an entertaining fun movie, similar to the other Nancy Meyers films. A perfect movie to rely on for a good rental for sure, and it's great to see DeNiro in something decent again. I don't think I'd buy it, but it's for sure an AWESOME rental.

Started out ok, then got really lame.

It lost me at the part where they just randomly threw in the part where they go to the mother's house to steal the laptop. OMG... Talk about stupid! "Well guys, the story line is really dragging here. What should we do to add some excitement? Oh, and HUMOR! I know: let's throw in this completely unrealistic and tacky scene! That'll do it." And it just went downhill from there.

Loved it

I saw this, and would see it again in a heartbeat. Favorite movie, definitely recommend it.
