Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Everything moves so much and so fast that the movie seems both gutsy and brainy. But the main strategy is to keep viewers' pulses racing so they concentrate on the action, not the message.
Rotten: The Kingdom works as an exotic action thriller, but its politics are so choked on checks and balances it cancels itself out.
Fresh: Sensationally directed by Peter Berg.
Fresh: When it's got the pedal to the metal, which is a substantial fraction of the running time, The Kingdom delivers the goods.
I am not easily impressed, but this was a fabulous movie. The plot is believable, intense, and moreover pertinent to modern issues; also, this movie has one of the most incredible endings I have ever seen. There is an important lesson to be learned here. Perhaps the thing I like most about this movie is its portrayal. The film makes no attempt to glamorize violence or war, but neither does it hide the brutality of modern anti-terror combat. Overall, a spectacular movie.
This was a great movie, at first I thought it would be boaring, but then it quickly cought up. The movie overall turned out to be a intence movie.
Well put together, lots of action and interesting plot. Thumbs-up!
