In 1972, master of horror Wes Craven wrote and directed this groundbreaking film that shocked the world and launched his career. Shot from a frighteningly realistic point of view, every scene is more gruesome than the last. When two young girls, Mari Collingwood and Phyllis Stone, head to a concert in the city, four psychotic prison escapees kidnap them with the intention of driving off to another state. But in an ironic twist, their car breaks down in front of Mari’s house. After the girls are forced into the woods where they are tortured and left to die, the gang unknowingly heads to Mari’s house posing as salesmen. Mari’s parents soon uncover their daughter’s fate and the true identity of these guests - and take bloody revenge. It’s a terrifying assault on the senses originally banned in Australia and the UK. Experience Wes Craven’s disturbing cult classic along with his recently released remake back-to-back.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The party who wrote this sickening tripe and also directed the inept actors is Wes Craven.
Fresh: A tough, bitter little sleeper of a movie that's about four times as good as you'd expect.
Fresh: It isn't artistically adroit, but if success in this genre is counted by squirms, it's a success.
First time I ever saw a horror flick
WOW, 1972 made me 12 at the time. My sister worked at a movie theater and I got in for free. Gave me nightmares I remember to this day. It was also the first time I ever saw a girls boobs, I was sure I was going to go blind. Watch this movie for it was Wes Craven's 1st film.
I saw this movie for the first time at a drive-in theater when I was 16. I have always described it as "disturbing". It disturbed me so much as a kid that I never would hitch-hike or hang out with people I didn't know. The way it is filmed lends to that lingering sense of horror I have felt for the last 41 years. It is so creepy and at times impossible not to watch through your fingers.
Last House On The Left
My mother went to see this movie in 1972 in theaters when it first came out with her best friend. she tells me later that they didn't realize what they were going to see untill it was too late. She claims to this very day (40 years later) that the violent happenings and events that happened in this movie still haunt her. and she will occasionally have terrifying drema ssimilar to the moive plot. She and her friend still wish they had never gone to see that movie, so think before you watch people. So let me tell you something...WATCH IT!
