About the Movie

As Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, Forest Whitaker gives one of the greatest performances of modern movie history. This is Amin's incredible story as seen through the eyes of Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy), a young Scotsman who becomes the volatile leader's personal physician. Due in part to Amin's unexpected passion for Scottish culture, Amin even proclaims himself "The Last King of Scotland". Seduced by Amin's charisma and blinded by decadence, Garrigan's dream life becomes a waking nightmare of betrayal and madness from which there is no escape. Inspired by real people and events, this gripping, suspenseful stunner is filled with performances you will never forget.

Fresh: If this genius turn by Whitaker (he starred in Bird and The Crying Game) doesn't earn an Oscar nomination, then those little statues will lose what little meaning they have. – Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel, May 13, 2009

Probably one of the scariest and best movies ive ever seen

A very good movie

Even though it is a fictional film, it does show you a horrifying glimpse of the reign of Idi Amin. Forest Whitaker is flawless in his role of the once Ungandan President. He is a character who will mess with your mind and get under your skin, just as he did with countless people. You will love him one moment and despise him the next. It is a very fascinating and horrific view into the mind of Idi Amin. It is a reminder of why we should be wary of who we trust.

Medicore permance, and Hollywood mixed storyline.

The facts of this movie are intelligently distorted with mixture of Hollywood elements that include of casual sex, moments of great triumps or downfalls, all that jazz. The performance is above average that has a weak link with the story (excellent production value to be sure). The doctor is the Hollywood element and the X-File girl is too. Dictator, Aldi Amin (Whitaker), is the other element that gives us an image what a bad leader should be... not in fact. Enjoy the movie but please don't cast a stereotype on the Last King of Scotland as they cast the stereotypes on Gandhi in the movie, Gandhi (excellent movie by the way).
