Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A smorgasbord of empty calories, the Vin Diesel vehicle "The Last Witch Hunter," for all its overstuffed visuals, leaves you hungry. But not for more. – Andy Webster, New York Times, Oct 22, 2015

Rotten: One of those artlessly restless, exposition-dialogue fantasy-action slogs ... – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Oct 22, 2015

Rotten: Unfortunately, a film needs more than Diesel's Stallone-ish appeal to succeed and that's where The Last Witch Hunter is found lacking. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Oct 25, 2015

Rotten: The Last Witch Hunter is so drenched in CGI effects, it looks as if it's been dunked in a vat of lacquer. – Peter Howell, Toronto Star, Oct 23, 2015

I really liked it & you would too

I'm going to be honest,I don't think vin diesel makes bad movies.when someone is as passionate about the movie as he is it shows on screen.will it win the Oscar?no,because it's not supposed to.this movie does exactly what it is supposed to do & that is entertain.i can't imagine anyone else in the movie besides vin,he was perfect & honestly so was the movie, but please don't take my word for it go see for yourself.

48-year old Vin Diesel still has it!

This "witch-hunting" tale is a thoroughly watchable film from beginning-to-end! The CGI special f/x are well done & believable, the storyline is fun as well as entertaining and the acting isn't bad. The addition of Sir Michael Caine lends a slight touch of class. The movie is neither too long nor too short. It is very close to "family-friendly" without any sex or even any profanity. However some viewers might be offended by the dark, macabre witchlore...even though there is an equal representation of 'good wiccans" too.

The film does a wee bit of flip/flop time travel from past to present with several back-n-forths...nothing that's too confusing & very self-explanatory.

I gave it three stars because the ending was completely predictable, no surprise nor any real "WOW" moments!
