About the Movie
After two years on the run, bushranger Ben Hall considers surrendering to the law when his old friend John Gilbert entices him back into the game. Taking on fresh recruit John Dunn, the gang rides again, and before long they become the most wanted men in the country. When they are declared outlaws, the three decide to flee forever. As Hall seeks to make peace with his tortured past, a trusted friend becomes an informant. The law sets a cunning trap for the outlaws, and on the cold morning of May 5th 1865, Hall emerges alone from his camp... and walks into legend forever.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Often the word "legend" in a film title can be a fairly good indicator that you're not in for a breezy frolic, but that still doesn't prepare you for the ponderously protracted slog that is "The Legend of Ben Hall."
Rotten: Holmes' unfocused screenplay makes clear that his subject was an honorable thief (Hall never took a life), but the writer-director never makes any of it matter.
Fresh: It's a serviceable Aussie Western set circa 1864, one that moves at a good clip despite being more than two hours long.
Fresh: The long-neglected tale of bushranger Ben Hall - there was an ABC TV series way back in 1975 - receives a pretty good going over in this impressive, ambitious, incident-packed feature from writer/director Matthew Holmes.
Finally a Good Western
Excellent story, great addition to the Western Genre.
