About the Movie

In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja (Dave Franco), along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and LEGO Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu (Jackie Chan), as wisecracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Despite comically inspired vocal performances from Justin Theroux and Dave Franco as nutjob Lego versions of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, the action and jokes pile up with exhausting repetitiveness. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Sep 22, 2017

Rotten: Just three movies in, the Lord/Miller LEGO genre is showing signs of exhaustion. – Glen Weldon, NPR, Sep 21, 2017

Fresh: Everything is still mostly awesome. – Johnny Oleksinski, New York Post, Sep 21, 2017

Fresh: "The LEGO Ninjago Movie" is a worthwhile entry into this growing universe, expanding it but not really evolving it. It's fun, but not especially memorable. – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic, Sep 21, 2017

IT'S AMAZING! just a little rushed

It's arguably the weakest of the three LEGO movies so far, but it's still amazing! The comedy, voice acting, characters, animation, score and pretty much everything else is phenominal, but the one problem is the story structure. It slows down and speeds up at some of the worst of times and it lacked the team-dynamic advertised, but all in all it's still a great movie! It's just because the studio rushed it to meet a toy deadline (this is true, look it up). If they had waited until say February 2018, it could have been even better because you can't rush great art, especially for a paycheck. In any case, an absolutely great film that I'd definetely see again despite the small stuff, highly recommended.

I SAW IT ON OPENING NIGHT AND IT NEARLY MADD ME CRY, IT MADE ME LAUGH, SO MANY FEELS!! ALSO I SAW MY SHIP HAPPEN!!!!!! JAYA!!! Omi I loved the movie and I will be the first to get it! But Kevin and Dan hegamen did an amazing job on this movie and I think it was the best Lego movie yet. Also while watching this i saw a Ninjago movie preview. Also I can now see the ninja as their Movie selves. XD

This movie isn't as good as The Lego Movie but it's still nice. Great animation as always but the thing they need to improve on the most is the story. The story gets worse and worse through the movies. And why does it have 52% Fresh it should have 93% Fresh. Wow you critics, you have to pander almost every animated movie of the year. I'll just say it's a little worse than The Lego Batman Movie. But however Jackie Chan had a great performance just like in The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature. This movie sure looks a little rushed but you'll enjoy it. I give this movie a 4.5/5.

And Here's what I've rated animated movies so far for this year

Monster Trucks 3.5/5
The Lego Batman Movie 5/5
Rock Dog 2/5
The Boss Baby 2/5
Smurfs: The Lost Village 3/5
Spark: A Space Tail 0/5
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie 5.5/5
Cars 3 4/5
Despicable Me 3 4/5
The Emoji Movie 0/5 (Worst Animated Movie of The Year)
The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature 5.5/5 (Best Animated Movie of The Year)
Leap! 2/5
The Lego Ninjago Movie 4.5/5

I don't review a lot of animated movies. However, this is my opinion.
