About the Movie

Armed with razor-sharp instincts, a gadget-laden Auston Martin, and a license to kill, James Bond (Timothy Dalton) battles diabolical arms merchants bent on world domination in a weapons conspiracy that may be linked to the Soviet military high command. Initially assigned to help a KGB agent (Jerome Krabbe) defect, Bond must prevent an unknown sniper from killing him before he can escape to the West. The mysterious shooter is the seductive and beautiful Kara Milovy (Maryam d'Abo), who is not at all what she appears to be. Bond foils a plot to trade millions of dollars of diamonds for weapons, ending in a shootout high above the clouds in a plane loaded with opium.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Mr. Dalton, the latest successor to the role of James Bond, is well equipped for his new responsibilities. He has enough presence, the right debonair looks and the kind of energy that the Bond series has lately been lacking. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Sep 8, 2015

Fresh: This Bond is as fast on his feet as with his wits; an ironic scowl creases his face; he's battle ready yet war-weary. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Timothy Dalton, the fourth Bond, registers beautifully on all key counts of charm, machismo, sensitivity and technique. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: I feel just rotten about this, but I'm afraid I've outgrown James. – Sheila Benson, Los Angeles Times, Oct 20, 2015

Customer Reviews

pretty decent

Though he, like the rest, pales in comparison to Connery as Bond, Dalton was pretty good. He just was kinda weird looking and over-acted a bit. But his toughness and seriousness, was a welcome retreat from the fluff and old age of Roger Moore and the role should have been given to him after Moonraker. This movie was based on an Ian Fleming short story

wowww bond james bond

The Living Daylights

I only need to highlight what one other reviewer noted: hold off on purchasing this movie until the iTunes version is fixed. The noticeable flaw at 12:40 or so really ruined it for me. Chances are if you're buying this movie you're a huge Bond fan, and you don't want this corrupted version if you're trying to build a digital library of all of the Bond titles. Not what I expected from an iTunes product. Hopefully they'll get it fixed ASAP so that I can re-purchase.
