The lives of four families from Harlem and the Bronx intersect at a high-stakes lottery. If they win, their children will gain access to one of the best charter schools in New York. If they lose, they may have no choice but to send their children to some of the worst schools operating today. Critically acclaimed, "The Lottery will do for charter schools what An Inconvenient Truth did for the environment," says Errol Louis of the New York Daily News.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Though infinitely classier -- and easier on the eyes -- than Cartel, the recent documentary exploring public education, this latest charter-school commercial is no less one-sided.
Fresh: The film takes an effective, two-pronged approach to tell its enlightening tale.
Fresh: Sackler reframes education reform as a moral issue, and it's impossible to look at the fallen faces of kids turned away from a school -- of all things -- and disagree.
Fresh: You look at all these beautiful kids, with all the potential in the world, and every expectation for a great life, and you know that at most one-sixth of them will come out of the room with a fighting chance. That shouldn't be.
This is a great movie. If the unions cared at all about improving schools and giving kids a chance, they would stop their campaign against charter schools. They are the roadblock that stands in the way of the four families who are fighting to give their kids a chance.
A must for understanding that some parents are tired of their kids getting a bad education and the lengths parent will do for their kids. I watched this 5x. I eventually bought it. This is a Good movie. Very well worth the watch. I haven't seen Waiting for Superman yet so I'm not going to compare it.
A Must See
A powerful, moving exploration of school choice in New York City. Worth the money to see and certainly worth the investment of your time.
