About the Movie

Sundance winning director Mads Matthiesen’s second feature film THE MODEL is set in the Parisian fashion industry, starring fashion model and feature film debutant Maria Palm and Ed Skrein (GAME OF THRONES, 2013; TRANSPORTER REFULED, 2015; DEADPOOL, 2016). When emerging fashion model Emma gets a chance to pursue her dream of becoming an international top model, she leaves her everyday life in Denmark behind, and moves to Paris. At a photo shoot in her new hometown, she meets the attractive photographer Shane White and they fall in love. But their relationship soon turns into a dangerous obsession for Emma.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The bodies are thin in the Danish film "The Model" and so is the plot, though the real-life model who plays the lead role acquits herself well enough. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Aug 11, 2016

Fresh: A shallow but good-looking soap opera-like drama set in the world of high fashion. – Alissa Simon, Variety, Jul 27, 2016

Fresh: The Model digs into the sexual-political economy of Paris fashion through the experience of Emma (Danish model Maria Palm in her acting debut), a naive teen alone in a foreign land, chasing her dreams of fame and fortune. – Katie Walsh, Los Angeles Times, Aug 12, 2016

Fresh: The film unapologetically warns us at every turn that fashion is nothing but a business, fueled by naivete and rape. – Diego Semerene, Slant Magazine, Aug 8, 2016
