About the Movie
It seems the only way "The Newton Boys" can make good is by goin' bad! Faster than you can say "nitroglycerin," they've knocked over more than 80 banks from Texas to Canada. Now their sights are set on a multimillion-dollar Federal Reserve train robbery, but the Feds are about to turn up the heat! Based on the true-life chronicles of the Newton Boys, four brothers who arguably were the most prolific bank robbers in American history (circa the 1920's) and whose "crowning achievement" -- the $3 million heist of a mail train, the biggest haul ever for such a robbery -- was also their downfall.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A handsome production that nicely evokes the 1920s and a likeable cast headed by McConaughey can't compensate for a Western-gangster film that's too diffuse and lacks a discernibel POV to be dramatically engaging.
Fresh: As portrayed by Matthew McConaughey in his first fully satisfying screen performance, Willis Newton regards his three younger brothers and their associates as social rectifiers who take money only from the real thieves: bankers and their directors.
Fantastic in its Genre
This is a FANTASTIC rental ... Entertaining. It is based on true events, real characters. Great characterization too with some great acting. It is a very good movie in its own right, in its own genre (that of "based on true events"). It is an extra treat that footage from the Johnny Carson show of interviews with the real Newton brothers are shown in the end.
