About the Movie
Behind every great love is a great story. As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soulmate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands). Based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking and will capture you in its sweeping and emotional force.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The movie not only approaches a level of shamelessness you have to see to disbelieve, it does it in a manner that's both inept and crass.
Fresh: An old-fashioned and occasionally schmaltzy movie that delivers an emotional wallop sure to elicit tears from all but those with truly intractable hearts.
Rotten: Two hours of the worst sort of sentimental sap.
Fresh: How rare to see a film that says there is still a value system out there, that being thoughtful and caring is not uncool.
One of the best movies ever.
One of the top ten best romantic movies ever. A modern classic and a moving film. If you like romantic fims, you must watch this one, if you buy the best ones, then buy this rather than rent it. Total 5 stars.
It's one of those movies you can watch over and over and still cry every time.
It was a sappy predictable romance story...but I'm a sucker for those kind of movies anyway.
The Notebook is a sappy, and predictable love story, but I fell for it anyway. Not to mention, Ryan Gosling is hot, and the chemistry between him and Rachel McAdams is so perfect! Obviously, not many guys will like it, and they will probably scoff it off. Girls, however will love The Notebook.
