Plot Summary

It’s time to go nuts for this action-packed comedy featuring the all-star talents of Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Liam Neeson, Maya Rudolph and Katherine Heigl. Surly (Arnett) is a mischievous squirrel with a mission: to find the tastiest nuts for winter. When he discovers a whole store filled with his favorite food, he plans a heist of nutrageous proportions. But the place turns out to be owned by ruthless bank robbers, so it’s up to Surly and his furry friends to stop the nearby bank heist and save the town. The fur is sure to fly in this hilarious adventure that critics are calling “Funny and witty! For kids of all ages!” (Jeffrey Lyons, Lyons Den Radio, WCBS)

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: "The Nut Job" features muddy-colored and often ugly animation, a plot that feels too stretched out and loaded with details to hold the attention of most children, and more flatulence jokes than anyone deserves. – Miriam Bale, New York Times, Jan 16, 2014

Rotten: When the story gets stale, the movie inserts a "nuts" pun or, worse, resorts to a gas or burp joke. It doesn't work the first time, nor the fifth. – Scott Bowles, USA Today, Jan 16, 2014

Rotten: The Nut Job features decent CG animation, especially of animals, but the writing isn't particularly clever, relying on obvious puns and slapstick humor. – Annlee Ellingson, Los Angeles Times, Jan 16, 2014

Rotten: "The Nut Job" fights its protagonist's own charmlessness from the first scene. Turning a dislikable leading character a little less dislikable by the end credits sets an awfully low bar for this sort of thing. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, Jan 16, 2014

Not too bad at all.

For one: They only had 2 fart jokes over all.
Two: It's a children's movie, of course there will be a pop culture song and a couple corny jokes. That should be expected. If you are expecting another Lion King or Over The Hedge then you are expecting too much.

Not bad!

Well it's no Pixar or DreamWorks masterpiece, but I think it's definitely something you should check out! And there aren't that many fart jokes! Don't listen to them! :-)
