Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: [Turner's] performance is the deepest and truest element in this shallow feel-good movie about the clash between gay rights and Catholic orthodoxy in a generic suburban town...
Fresh: A dynamite Kathleen Turner desperately strives to be named "Catholic Woman of the Year" in tyro helmer Anne Renton's feel-good religious laffer The Perfect Family.
Rotten: The film's single saving grace is Turner, who channels that legendary Catholic guilt like there is no tomorrow.
Fresh: In the final scene I found myself laughing and crying at the same time.

The Perfect Family
Don't be deceived the the 'Rotten Tomatoes' reviews. This is an excellent and relevant film.
A real look at a family! FINALLY!
There seems to be undue emphasis on the Catholic aspect in this movie. Really you could insert any religion or even Atheism in it and it would work. Ultimately this movie is about family, and love. How really in the face of everything, even things engrained in you via a belief system will be overcome with love. It is a beautiful and moving story about one families struggle with many of todays most harrowing topics. I was laughing and crying and feeling understood during this movie. Bravo to the filmmakers and cast for putting out such a wonderful film. I can't recommend it enough!
