Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Regardless of the viewer's proximity to his or her own high school experience, "Perks" seems to get it right, precisely because it's not about a specific time or place. – John Anderson, Newsday, Oct 4, 2012

Fresh: In spite of its downer of an opening act, the film achieves instant lift-off the very moment Charlie falls in with the out crowd. – Leigh Paatsch, Herald Sun (Australia), May 18, 2018

Fresh: "Like real teenagers, Watson and Miller convincingly move from glowing objects of desire to comic relief to deeply troubled human beings." – Violet Lucca, Film Comment Magazine, Jun 28, 2013

Fresh: While most films about teenage life tend to trade on a nifty hook, and sometimes even a plot, The Perks of Being a Wallflower chimes in as an unusually incisive, character-driven ramble through the inevitable awkwardness of teen life. – Jim Schembri, 3AW, Dec 7, 2012

Very Well Done

This is one of my favorite films of 2012. The three main actors did an amazing job and I was sad when the movie ended, only because I wanted to continue watching their stories unfold. There were many similarities between the story and my years in high school which made me feel more connected to the film. I have highly recommend this movie to my family and friends and I do the same to you.

Fantastic Movie

This is a touching movie which really shows the way it is to be a teen. However, it is definitely a strong PG-13 -- not PG by any standards.
