A theatrical producer, Max Bialystock, (Zero Mostel) and his accountant, Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder) find too many backers for a musical that they know will fail so that they can keep the excess money. The problem is the show, Springtime for Hitler, turns out to be a hit. Mel Brooks' directorial debut.
