Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: DiCaprio may get put through bloody hell, but on a big screen "The Revenant" is heaven, with Lubezki's camera painting the American West as a rapturous primeval proving ground. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Jan 7, 2016

Fresh: The enormously talented Alejandro G. Inarritu ("Amores Perros," "21 Grams," "Birdman") strikes again with this 19th century American fable, one of the most brutally beautiful movies I've ever seen. – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times, Jan 8, 2016

Fresh: Inarritu's real achievement is how he captures the monumental force of the untamed land. – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader, Jan 7, 2016

Rotten: It is overwhelming but unmoving, a rush of brute force that leaves the nagging afterthought, "Is that all there is?" – Nick Pinkerton, Sight and Sound, Jan 15, 2016

Customer Reviews

Totally predictable

There is nothing interesting except for the cinematography. You always know exactly what will happen during the entire movie.

Great movie

Great movie from beginning to end, Enjoyed every second and was always on the edge of my seat guy below me guess he wikipedia’d the actual story, but 100% a must watch!

Beautiful and Repulsive

Leo pulls through again in what is surely his most dedicated performance. While speaking almost nothing he gives the performance of a lifetime and truly makes you believe he was suffering the same physical and mental anguish of Hugh Glass. While the story is predictable it leaves you squirming every scene. The locations were absolutely breathtaking every time the shot panned out, and the gore was certainly present but necessary to properly tell the tale.
