About the Movie
Once upon a time, Keith Michaels (Hugh Grant) was an award-winning Hollywood screenwriter, but divorce and a string of unsuccessful films have left him with nothing but bad debts and blank pages. So when his agent arranges a job as guest screenwriting professor at a remote university in upstate New York, a desperate Keith can’t say no. Initially hoping to give minimal effort to actual teaching so he can focus on his next script, Keith unexpectedly finds himself becoming invested in his students lives, including Holly (Marisa Tomei), a single mom looking to start her own new chapter. The Rewrite features an all-star cast, including Academy Award Nominee J.K. Simmons, Allison Janney, Chris Elliott and Bella Heathcote.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Mr. Grant, now 54, is facing the expiration date of his twinkly boyish act. And in "The Rewrite," as he plays a spoiled screenwriter and one-hit Hollywood wonder on the skids, you can feel the strain as he goes through the routine one more time.
Fresh: It's far from perfect, but "The Rewrite" is the kind of witty, enjoyable star vehicle in sadly short supply on screens these days.
Fresh: It's the fourth collaboration between Grant and writer-director Marc Lawrence, and it could be their strongest outing to date.
Fresh: Hanging out with Keith and Holly in this kindly, observant movie is a perfectly pleasant way to pass ninety-odd minutes.
Really loved this movie...
Saw this trailer a week ago... Was interested... Saw it was for sale... Purchased... Watched one surprisingly good film...!!! Maybe I am a tad bit too close to the subject material... You guys nailed the feelings of most over forty writers... Trying to remember what it was like to be relevant to the Hollywood system...
A very enjoyable movie!!!
Last night, I was looking for something to watch after a long day that would make me feel good. This was that movie, and it totally succeeded!
I think this movie inspires a good way to live and to value the importance of teaching, in a way to discover the true talents of brilliant students. My wife loves the film!
