About the Movie

The River Thief is a rich, action adventure about guilt, grace, and receiving life as a gift. Diz (Joel Courtney) is a reckless teenage drifter living life on the run along the Snake River. Abandoned by his parents as a child, he looks out for himself, takes whatever he wants and runs. Jaded and determined to answer to no one, Diz lives a life of thievery and never looks back. Things change when Diz floats into a small town where he is confronted by an unflappable old man named Marty (Tommy Cash) and his guarded granddaughter, Selah who try to help him. When Diz robs an enormous pile of cash from a local drug-dealing crazy, he becomes the target of two vicious killers. With more money than he knows what to do with, and criminals at his heels, Diz is horrified to realize he has put the only people he’s ever cared about in imminent danger.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's entirely fitting that "The River Thief" is an unabashedly faith-based drama - it would take a considerable leap of faith to find many redemptive qualities in this hackneyed, heavy-handed first feature written and directed by YA author N.D. Wilson. – Michael Rechtshaffen, Los Angeles Times, Oct 13, 2016

Rotten: A hoary melodrama revealing the filmmaker's inexperience. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Oct 21, 2016

Beautiful

Stunning cinematography. Excellent story. It will change you. Must see!

Highly recommend!

Simply fantastic! Great acting, powerful story, and beautifully shot!

A True Story

Well done River Thief. Beautiful scenes. A flick that feeds you, makes you ponder life, and doesn't leave you with that cheap fast food feeling when you're done. Very worthwhile. In this day and age we need more stories that aren't afraid to tell the truth about good (and what it looks like and does) and evil (how it lies and leaves us empty).
