Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A powerfully atmospheric blend of ghostly encounters, horrific situations and missing-persons mysteries from the Philippine director Yam Laranas.
Fresh: This low-budget shocker eventually pays off, displaying just enough narrative ingenuity to compensate for a cinematically crude and logistically sketchy deployment of the requisite blood-and-guts mayhem.
Fresh: The film's three-pronged narrative does a fair job of laying a spooky groundwork for the revelatory emotional sadism that lies behind most acts of evil; it just takes a bit of clunky exposition to get there.
Rotten: For a spell, the film gets by on its unpretentious flair for atmosphere, even its disconcerting nonsensicality.
Creepy & Disturbing
THE ROAD is by far one of the best horror films I"ve seen in ages. I'm a big fan of THE SHINING and THE ROAD plays around in the same vein of horror.
It's creepy, unsettling and distrubing. It's absolutely beautiful--getting it in anything but HD is a sin--and makes that beauty work to chill you to your core. The story stretches two decades, delving into the creation of a monster. Bottom line though: it's the creepiest movie I've seen in ages. Loved it!!
Beautiful and Haunting, get it in HD
The New York Times gave this a rave review and branded it a NYT Critics' Pick. One of the best ghost story/ psychological movies we've seen in years!! The HD version is totally worth the price given the breathtaking and extremely haunting imagery. Don't expect a slasher horror movie -- this one's got depth as well as thrills.
A great movie. I am impressed with the subtlety of events, an original story and well tied.
