Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Plenty of energy has gone into making this a bustling, visually clever film with an amusing late-1930's stylishness, but the purpose of such effort is uncertain. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: The film is awash in all kinds of surprises that are too juicy to reveal. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Apr 18, 2007

Fresh: This $40 million adventure fantasy puts a shiny polish on familiar elements: airborne hero, damsel in distress, Nazi villains, 1930s Hollywood glamor, and dazzling special effects. – Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Based on a comic book, deliciously corny but not campy, "The Rocketeer" is the movie Dick Tracy and Batman wanted to be. – Joe Brown, Washington Post, Apr 18, 2007

What You Watch Movies For

Take your mind off of today ... immerse yourself in yesteryear along with the characters .... enjoy the special effects ... be entertained and enjoy ... isn't that what you watch movies for ... oh and just in case you don't know ... there was a real rocket belt developed right here in the USA by Bell Aircraft Company in the late 1950's early 1960's .
