About the Movie

Comedy superstars Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, and Kevin Hart make their animated feature-film debut that finally answers the question: what do your pets do when you’re not home? When their owners leave for the day, pets from the building gossip with their friends, satisfy their sweet tooths, and throw outrageous parties. But when a pampered terrier (C.K.) and his unruly new “roommate” from the pound (Stonestreet) get lost in the urban jungle of New York City, they must put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: What should have been an enthusiastic tummy rub doesn't merit more than a grudging pat on the head. – Brian Lowry, CNN.com, Jul 8, 2016

Fresh: The Secret Life of Pets is strong enough that parents won't fall into a catatonic state while watching it with their offspring. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Jul 9, 2016

Fresh: The big chase scenes and action-movie adventures are fine. But what delights here are the small details of what happens once we close the door - the standard poodle who throws a heavy-metal party, or the dachshund who gets massages. – Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger, Jul 8, 2016

Fresh: An amusing animated adventure full of talking animals that should please both children and their parents. – Kate Taylor, Globe and Mail, Jul 8, 2016

A little too many references to other movies

It wasn't bad it wasn't good it was okay but not a movie I would watch more then once

Best movie

I really like this movie I definitely recommend this movie. And I think this was the most funny movie of this year so far I would give this movie a five star rate'ing.

Hilarious

Laughed so hard, I cried. Only negative is that there was some "bad language" that I really wish they had left out because of the number of children in the theater. There was also a line about pets killing their owners, which made several children begin to cry. It's said with sarcasm and humor, but it went over their heads. Overall, a hysterical movie that is for true dog lovers.
