About the Movie
Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing. In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Once unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Mr. Carpenter has demonstrated that he can make good, comparatively plain, old-fashioned scare movies and effective suspense thrillers, but he seems to lose his own head when he combines two or more genres, as he [does here].
Fresh: This is one of those rare remakes that remains faithful to the premise of the original but does something unique with the concept.
Fresh: The Thing is set in an all-male environment, and is as much a study of masculinity in crisis as an update of the sort of siege scenario that Carpenter had already played out in Assault on Precinct 13.
Fresh: The Thing is a peerless masterpiece of relentless suspense, retina-wrecking visual excess and outright, nihilistic terror.
Great Movie. I think that it is Carpenter's best work so far. It is almost better than most of todays movies. Especially Snoop Dawgs Hood of Horror.
Best Horror Film
Without a doubt the best Horror film ever created. Changed movies forever.
This is one of the (if not the) best sci-fi/horror film that I have ever seen. Suspenseful and creepy, this movie just brought out fear for me when I first saw it and the monster transformations aren't half bad, considering the movie was made in 1982. The title looks better on the copy of the DVD i have, but what else can I say? It's on iTunes and i'm happy. But that's my own opinion.
