Rotten: The drama, for all its invention, is creaky and a bit passe.
A great classic
This is a great classic movie, very enjoyable for the whole family. I hope that iTunes gets the 2000 remake as it is really enjoyable too.
For my literature class, we had to read HG Well's book. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. HG Wells is a genius! At the last day of school before Christmas Break, we watched this movie, and me and my friends had a blast screaming our heads off when a moorlock popped out and snarred Weena!! It was SOOO cheesy, but in a good way. I LOVE this movie!!! Deffinately a Halloween movie Top 10. :D Go HG Wells!!!!
The original journey into the far future!
Although Rod Taylor dominates the story with his character's presence as H.G. Wells' 'Time Traveler', and aside from the very lovely (and young) Yvette Mimieux as the naive girl from the year of 802,701 A.D., one can honestly concede that the main star of this classic film is the beautiful Victorian-era Time Machine, itself! One of the most famous sci-fi vehicles ever conceived, it still impresses viewers close to fifty years after the film's initial release ( the movie celebrates its fiftieth year in 2010 )! With a cult following, the George Pal production of "The Time Machine" definitely reaffirms its charm and magic for a new generation of filmgoers! The story of cherished friendship and the vision of mankind's future are the elements that mark this gem as a 'timeless' treasure of entertainment!
