About the Movie
This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make those clothes and the impact it’s having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking new documentary film that pulls back the curtain on an unseen part of our world and asks us each to consider, who pays the price for our clothing? Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth, Vandana Shiva and many more. This unprecedented project invites us all on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Offering few solutions beyond a single fair-trade fashion company, "The True Cost" - whose serene interludes compete with sickening recordings of Black Friday shopping riots and so-called clothing haul videos - stirs and saddens.
Rotten: One would almost be inclined to give Morgan a pass for interviewing some of his executive producers as expert sources.
Fresh: The latest advocacy documentary that will either induce you into changing your ways or simply have you curling into a fetal position from despair.
Protect Garment Workers
Watching The True Cost is the best 90 minutes I've spent recently. I learned how big corporations and fashion giants hide behind outsourced labor operating in offshore sweatshops to avoid responsibility for injury to human beings and our environment. I will avoid fast fashion and buy responsibly made clothes that are made by people treated with dignity and paid a living wage. Thanks to Andrew Morgan and his team for opening my eyes.
Chilling and Heartbreaking
In addition to being a very well made film, this is one of the most important documentaries I’ve seen in a long time. Definitely makes you stop and think. It made me angry, it made me cry, and it made me want to wear Fair Trade only from now on.
This film will change the way you shop and think about the clothes you wear everyday. A well done documentary that overwhelms you with the global reality of the world of fast fashion.
