About the Movie

Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man – Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – has ever walked in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Academy Award® winning director Robert Zemeckis uses advanced technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. The Walk is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade Center.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It's two-thirds of a great film but the slow start and unremarkable first hour hold it back. Still, for those who buy into the precept that "good things are worth waiting for," The Walk unquestionably delivers. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Oct 5, 2015

Rotten: Even in its greatest moment, The Walk breaks the spell with an unnecessary narration about how Petit felt in that moment, how the sky looked to him, how a bird came soaring towards his head. – Elaine Teng, The New Republic, Oct 2, 2015

Fresh: The Walk turns what is a relatively straightforward act - albeit a scarily placed one - into something stunning by restoring a sense of physicality to what's happening onscreen. – Alison Willmore, BuzzFeed News, Nov 10, 2015

Fresh: Most people should find the film's finale stunning as The Walk fulfils its unstated though obvious brief to present a factually based urban fairy tale designed to recast the towers as beacons of wonder and beauty rather than as symbols of terror. – Jim Schembri, 3AW, Oct 19, 2015

A MISUNDERSTOOD MASTERPIECE

It's sad that many people don't understand and appreciate how beautiful and inspiring this movie truly is. Just because it moves at a slower pace and doesn't have any sex or violence people think it's pointless when it's really one big commentary on life. This movie shows how everyone should chase their dreams whatever they may be. Regardless of how dumb and stupid it may be to someone else, if it's important to you then you have to go for it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gave an amazing performance and visually this movie had me on the edge of my seat. If your a true movie lover and not a basic si fi superhero fanboy then this is a must see!!!

Just Some Girl Who Came By

If you like a farce, watch this. But why watch this when you can see the original, Man On Wire, filmed in real time by the actual walker. A masterpiece. Available probably on iTunes and elsewhere documentaries are shown for a very small price.

Great Story About an Actual Event

Seriously don't understand how anyone can't appreciate this movie. No - it's not an action packed fantasy - it's a factual account of a person walking a tightrope between the Twin Towers. And in 3D it absolutely takes your breath away!!!
