Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: "The We and the I" neither scolds nor sentimentalizes its young characters. Instead the film invites viewers, of whatever age, to immerse themselves in the chaos, glee and heartache of a long ride home on the last day of school. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Mar 7, 2013

Fresh: Rambling and unpolished, the film has a scrappy charm that springs organically from the characters and their stories rather than being artificially coaxed. – David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter, May 17, 2012

Fresh: At its finest and most affecting, The We and the I is a window onto youth's forever moments ... – Michelle Orange, Village Voice, Mar 5, 2013

Rotten: Gondry has talent, and I think he enjoyed being with these youngsters, but the film suffers in trying to impose something vaguely like a story on a framework that boils down to teen high jinks during a bus ride. – Walter V. Addiego, San Francisco Chronicle, Mar 22, 2013

Love it!!!!!

Fresh, funny and realistic!
I really enjoyed it. :)

The we and the I

I loved the real life characters and situations used in this film. It made it very relatable...it took me back to high school! The actors were fresh, lively and innocent. It was fast paced and kept my attention. The story line was genius considering the whole movie takes place on a bus.
