About the Movie

Gospel singer Beth (Brittania Nicol) and her cowboy fiancé (Henry Garrett of UK TV’s SKINS) leave Texas to preach door to door in Scotland as part of a missionary excursion where they are shocked by the negative reception they receive. Things go from bad to worse when they come into contact with an aristocrat (Graham McTayish of TV’S THE GHOST WHISPERER) whose nefarious plans do not include being reformed by their Christian ways. Written and directed by Robin Hardy based on his novel COWBOYS FOR CHRIST, the film is an extension of Hardy’s 1974 cult classic THE WICKER MAN, which was #45 on Bravo’s list of “100 Scariest Movies of All Time.”

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A hee-haw slam on ugly Americanism, a vast reduction of the original's notion of unraveling civilization. – Joshua Rothkopf, Time Out, Jan 24, 2012

Rotten: With The Wicker Tree, Hardy may have sired a long-awaited second film - but it only leaves the impression that The Wicker Man had better remained a single child whose brilliance could be untainted by the presence of inferior siblings. – Anton Bitel, Little White Lies, Aug 30, 2011
