Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Conspiracy theorists, consider this: What if the hush-hush atmosphere and Internet mania surrounding the first X-Files feature film were part of a giant plot to hide the uneventfulness of one more summertime sci-fi fizzle? – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: Dark, funny, paranoid, arbitrary, humming with tamped-down eroticism and in love with all things weird: That's the good news. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: It's a two-hour episode of the show, except with better production values and a nicer wardrobe for Scully. – Joyce Millman,, Jun 8, 2007

Fresh: I came close to getting very excited on several different occasions, and that's saying something when you consider that I thought the experience would be more like participating in a card game that's beyond my comprehension. – Paul Tatara,, Feb 5, 2018

Where's the TV show?

God they would make so much money if they put the entire TV series on iTunes.

Fan? Never seen the show? Doesn't matter when a film is so good.

I remember vividly seeing this film in theaters around the age of 13, and loving every moment of it. I have seen maybe one or two episodes of the show, but this movie a dozen times. It builds a great suspense without forcing you into a detailed history you may or may not care about. I'm sure knowing that history enriches the experience, but either way you will experience a fun couple of hours. Great movie to watch with a group of friends. Now has for this rental vs buying thing. Please don't let these "reviews" make it to the top. Rate the film for what it is, not for the method the film studio allows you to get a copy.

great movie but one flaw...

and that would be that ITunes is still not letting this blockbuster movie and many others come up for sale. IF enough people start emailing itunes of this, something will happen.
