Fresh: An effective and unsettling neuro-psychological thriller
I saw this piece at a festival and loved it! It's a suspenseful, slow build with a dark atmosphere, and an unexpected ending. The director manages to do a lot with a little here. It's definitely a lower-budget film (don't expect CGI monsters destroying CGI cityscapes), but it succeeds briliantly with its confined scope and very personal look at its subjects. For those who like horror or psychological drama I highly recommend it.
They Look Like People is a "Breaking the Waves” for modern male friendships. It explores the borderlands between love and alienation, courage and despair, reality and madness, asking how far you might go for someone you love while skirting the edge of fear -- until the movie's surprising final turn. I’m not a horror fan but this movie got to me with its subtle, nuanced terror. A scary movie for smart people -- I loved it! Magdalene Brandeis, Producer.
Totally Original Horror with a Twist
This movie is in the horror genre, but it really encompasses so much more than that. In a time when so many movies seem to have played out old storylines, it's so refreshing and exciting to see something completely original. I don't want to give anything away, but at the end, I was so stressed out and literally clinging to the edge of my seat. A fantastic movie.
