Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A running joke is that Mr. Harvey has thrown men under the bus by giving away their secrets. But, gents, if they were secrets they wouldn't be cliches. – Rachel Saltz, New York Times, Apr 19, 2012

Fresh: Even though Think Like a Man espouses something akin to the philosophy in Beyonce's Single Ladies(Put a Ring on It), it makes manipulation more fun than it ought to be. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Apr 19, 2012

Rotten: I'm not going to claim this is a good movie, in some Platonic-ideal way... – Andrew O'Hehir,, Apr 19, 2012

Fresh: Pleasantly sitcom-ish - kind of a knowing, urbane variation on the sort thing that would get more earnest treatment from Tyler Perry. – Bob Mondello, NPR, Apr 20, 2012

In a film industry full of generic Tyler Perry offerings, "Think Like a Man" stands out among the crowd simply because it's a genuinely relatable and pleasantly down-to-earth movie. The film acts like a two hour-long sitcom, switching back and forth between different couples as their relationships dramatically change for the better (and for the worse) thanks to Steve Harvey's best-selling book "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man". Had it landed in the wrong director's hands, this romantic comedy could've ended up being an agonizingly drawn out promotional piece, but with Tim Story at the helm, he guides the flick where it needs to go, taking full advantage of the entire cast in the process. Speaking of the cast, they're the whole reason why this film works as well as it does. From Kevin Hart's over-the-top improvisational rants to Taraji P. Henson's charismatic charm and sass, every actor delivers to their strong suit and shines in his/her own way, as terribly corny as that may sound. Despite the fact that a few of the cast members can come across as forgettable rom-com stereotypes, they deliver enough hearty laughs to make up for their characters' shortcomings. The writing, on the other hand, is surprisingly fresh and inventive. Screenwriters Keith Merryman and David A. Newman do a fantastic job coming up with jokes that most, if not all couples can easily relate to, and the majority of them are pretty darn hilarious. And even I have to admit that the R&B soundtrack is too catchy to resist. All in all, "Think Like a Man" is a delightful crowd-pleaser with a great cast, plenty of engaging laughs, and a sitcom-like story that, despite its sentimental clichés, constantly entertains from start to finish. Whether you love humor, romance, or both, this movie is worth seeing!

Non-stop LOL

How can you tell if a movie is REALLY funny? By how many laugh-out-louds (LOLs) you hear in the theater. From start to finish, mostly everyone in the audience was laughing hysterically (I saw it twice). Some were cracking up so hard they starting gagging, no joke. Think Like A Man is a riot… 5 stars!

Funny with predictable ending

Some funny scenes throughout… there was a fair amount of profanity, there was no nudity. Mostly just word play. Overall quite good, Kevin Hart was very funny as usual. If you like his style.
