Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The color is handsome. The scenery in the Bahamas is an irresistible lure. Even the violence is funny. That's the best I can say for a Bond film. – Bosley Crowther, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: If Thunderball's gimmickry seems to overreach at times, Actor Connery gains assurance from film to film, by now delivers all his soppiest Jimcracks martini-dry. – TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: There's visible evidence that the reported $5.5 million budget was no mere publicity figure; it's posh all the way. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Slightly bloated Bond, with too much technology for my taste and a climactic slaughter that's a little too mindless to be much fun. – Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

My favorite Bond film!

This is my all time favorite Bond film. It has everything: great villains, awesome gadgets and beautiful women. It is Connery at his best.

Long been my favorite Bond film

I enjoy watching this Bond film the most of all and it has my favorite Bond Girl - Domino!. This is one of the rare "realistic" Bond films, and I mean that your don't have to suspend disbelief much to enjoy it. This film along with From Russia With Love I find the most enjoyable and never seem to get tired of watching. Outside of the somewhat cheesy ending, I think this is a great and timeless movie. And how can you not like the opening credits? - best of the silhouette openings for sure!

One of the best Bond films.

This is definitely one of the best Bond films made. The movie was later remade in 1983 with Connery again but called Never Say Never Again. Thunderball has a great plot, incredible location shots, and some of the greatest underwater action sequences ever photographed. The best part of the movie has to be Luciano Paluzzi as the villainess (beautiful with a tough side). This Bond film will most likely go down as one of the top three in the series. Don't miss it!
