Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Melding the ever-more-workable Schwarzenegger mystique with a better-than-average science-fiction premise, the director Paul Verhoeven has come up with a vigorous, superviolent interplanetary thriller that packs in wallops with metronomic regularity. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 27, 2016

Fresh: Total Recall is too much -- but it's too much of a good thing. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: The movie is a cartoon, though a mammothly enjoyable one. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Jul 27, 2016

Rotten: Total Recall begins to self-destruct not long after Schwarzenegger arrives on Mars, and the story degenerates into a violent, stunningly foul-mouthed enterprise. – Gene Siskel, Chicago Tribune, Jul 27, 2016

Best Arnold Movie Made

This movie is awesome, and makes you think at the same time. I was 12 when it came out, and still smile when I think about the 3-boob scene. Cannot wait to see the remake, and hoping they do this movie justice.

Perfect in HD

Not much to say. Great movie and a solid purchase IMHO.

Funny brutal classic

This flick would never get an R rating today. The level of over the top violence is beyond anything you find at the cineplex today. It's all part of the film's shocking but highly entertaining spectacle along with it's mind bending twists and dark humor. From an era when action blockbusters ruled the cinema and a big budget director could get away with not only a huge production with an R rating, but incorporate a subversive message (Starship Troopers, Robocop) Total Recall ranks among the best.
