Plot Summary

Will and Mateo are throwing a 30th birthday party for Will at their home in TURTLE HILL, BROOKLYN. When Will's conservative sister stops by unexpectedly, he is forced to come out to her and face the repercussions. The party kicks into action as the friends drink, jump in the (kiddie) pool, break the piñata, and argue about politics, relationships, sex and religion. Another surprise guest arrives exposing truths that threaten Will and Mateo's relationship. When the bottles are empty and guests are gone, the couple faces the reality of who they are individuals and where they stand as a couple. TURTLE HILL, BROOKLYN is a funny, true-to-life look at a couple navigating the ins and outs of a relationship.

Fantastic Film

Just saw this at Quad Cinema, also buying on iTunes. Excellent, beautiful film. Funny, touching, organic. It eases you in and pulls you out. Don't miss it!

Must see!

I just saw this movie in the theatre and LOVED it. Beautiful, touching, thought-provoking, funny. Wonderfully acted and directed. Highly recommend seeing it.

A Terrifically Real New York Love Story!

Saw this lovely film during it’s all too short run at the QUAD here in NYC. Ryan Gielan has crafted a really interesting “Day-In-The-Life” film here. A character study that is a combo, friends gathering for a birthday/marriage-in-crisis love story, Turtle Hill also just happens to have a long term gay male couple who happen to live in Brooklyn at its it’s yummy, gooey center. Will and Mateo (Siebert and Valdez – the writers and real life lovers) have lived together in the neighborhoody Turtle Hill section of Brooklyn for a few years and have reached a certain level of Marital Fatigue. They wonder about each other’s dedication, fidelity and, as things ramp up, if they can hold themselves together. The visits from Will’s all too WASP-ish religious sister, while forced in terms of being a conflict device sets everything off on the rocky footing a story like this needs. The script and the gifted acting by our leads and their ensemble of eccentrics, nutters and misfits made me feel as though I were an eavesdropper (or a party crasher.) For those who like slice of life and/or New York style stories, this is a first rate indy and well worth the 90 minutes.
