Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, The Fifth Element), Cameron Bright (X-Men 3), Nick Chinlund (The Legend of Zorro) and William Fichtner (The Longest Yard) star in this theatrical set in the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence, and as they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war (a war between humans and hemophages) aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population. In the middle of this crossed-fire is - an infected woman - Ultraviolet, who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the human government as he is believed to be a threat to humans.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Ultraviolet cleaves faithfully to its comic-book genealogy with a plot unobstructed by big words and images that rarely breach two dimensions. Ultrasilly.
Rotten: Crank your brain to its lowest possible idle and you'll still overthink Ultraviolet.
Rotten: The most receptive audience will mainly be enlightened to know that you can make a movie as thoroughly unprofessional as this one and still get it released in 3,000 theaters.
Rotten: Ultraviolet wants desperately to be a provocative, high-concept action thriller. It is apparently trying to say something about fear and terrorism, paranoia and racism. But it looks more like a shampoo commercial.
Funniest Not Funny Movie in Recent History
Simply put, this is a terrible movie. The action is generic and repetitive, the plotline is cliched, and any attempt at interesting cinematography comes off as fake and videogamesque. That said, I found this movie to be unintentionally hilarious, filled with pinball ninjas, a child named six found in a briefcase, and a random trip to a playground (in slow-mo!) I don't regret seeing this movie (as I do for some) but I wouldn't watch it a second time, so rent, don't buy.
Milla Jovovich is my favorite actress of all time...and along with the series of Resident Evil films, this one is just as good! One of my favorite movies of all time, go Milla!
