Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Pivoting off pop music cues, "Uncertain Terms" can feel slight, and, oddly for this filmmaker, it dips into cliched dialogue. – Nicolas Rapold, New York Times, May 29, 2015

Fresh: An unassuming and assured fourth feature from rising indie filmmaker Nathan Silver. – Geoff Berkshire, Variety, Jun 27, 2014

Fresh: The film is brisk, brief, well acted, smartly crafted, and shrewdly judged. – Alan Scherstuhl, Village Voice, May 26, 2015

Fresh: A rural group home for pregnant teen-agers is the setting for this intimately detailed, sharply observed modernist melodrama, directed by Nathan Silver. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Dec 8, 2014

Touching and funny

Wow. I wasn’t expecting to like this film as much as I did. The performances were all great. But really, it was the characters that made this film stand out. They felt so honest and real. I watched it with my girlfriend expecting to be bored to tears. But, this film really impressed me. I want to see other films by the director. I can’t believe he put his mom in the film. She’s amazing! Highly recommended if you love films that make you feel.
