Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: This largely Spanish-language film brings on the waterworks because its core story is undeniably affecting. The whole movie, however, would be more convincing if the elements around that vital core were more multidimensional and less contrived. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Oct 18, 2008

Fresh: It has the feel of truth and is a vivid reminder of the hell Mexicans put themselves through to live in the United States, even illegally. – Ruthe Stein, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna) is the nightmare Lou Dobbs has when he goes to sleep at night. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

Fresh: Director Patricia Riggen's film mostly succeeds, despite a sometimes maudlin story that seems to bring multiple dangers a day to its young hero. – Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

A great contribution to Immigrant Cinema

This movie is a tad emotional, and while its plot is a little bit frustrating, it doesn't focus so much on the legalities of Immigration, choosing instead to focus on the family ties and relationships of this issue. A friend pointed out that the mom and the little boy are never in the same shot together, (except for a short dream sequence), and this underlines the theme of being alone in a strange, new country. An excellent addition to your digital library. Enjoy!

VERY GOOD! : )

I think its a great movie! I really recomand it to everyone!

Review

I don't think this movie is that boring. You have to be able to understand spanish to get the idea of the movie. One of the best parts of this movie is when the boy meets the band in the van. In real life those band members are called "Los Tigres Del Norte". They are a very popular band in Mexico. So don't be hatin' on a movie that you can't even understand.
