Plot Summary

A crazed Chechen nationalist, BASAYEV, seizes control of Chernobyl, site of the infamous nuclear meltdown, and threatens to unleash a radioactive cloud unless his nationalist blackmail demands are met. LUC DEVEREAUX (Jean-Claude Van Damme) joins a U.S. team of revived UniSoldiers secretly held in deep storage. Their mission: retake Chernobyl and disable explosives that will unleash the radioactive clouds. Luc is surprised when he finds one of the reactivated UniSoldiers is a clone of his old Sergeant, ANDREW SCOTT (Dolph Lundgren). But the cloned Andrew has no recollection of Luc. As the team furiously battles its way into the Chernobyl plant, they are caught off guard. Using a mind-control chip, Baseyev turns Andrew against his own comrades. Now surrounded, wounded, and out-numbered, Luc must battle Andrew, and save the world.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: This bloody wallow in sweat, guns and fisticuffs - for those who swing that way - delivers. – Andy Webster, New York Times, Nov 29, 2012

Rotten: So gruelingly violent you half wonder if director John Hyams' goal is to make the audience get up and leave the theater rather than be party to the brutality. – Clark Collis, Entertainment Weekly, Nov 28, 2012

Rotten: Universal soldiers, it seems, never die, even if they deserve a slow and deliberate farewell. – Scott Bowles, USA Today, Nov 29, 2012

Fresh: The grand finale is a series of what appear to be single-take sequences of bone-breaking, bullet-blasting violence, almost all of it presented with a practical-effects, minimal-CGI approach bound to impress genre devotees. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Nov 26, 2012

Pleasantly surprised

I had no idea Jean claude made another movie, when I saw it at the local redbox. Overall, I enjoyed it. The directing is pretty good, I was actually drawn to the movie. Acting is good, action is good...some crazy stunts. Since it was filmed in digital RED One and not 35mm, it has a documentary feel to it...sort of like Distric 9. All in all, good movie.

The best Jean Claude Van Damme movie in over a decade!

Just when you though JCVD was through with action movies after the success of the critically acclaimed JCVD he returns to the franchise that made him famous! Universal Soldier Regenerationith is non stop action and features Van Dame vs Lundgren again that scene alone is worth the price of admission overall the movie is a step in the right direction for the mussles from brussles and we can only hope for more quality movies like this from him in the future.

Whoa!

Unlike Steven Segal or other antiques action Actors that makes movies, JCVD made a good one and this is a must see. If people gave it a chance they'll like it. Watch this movie!
