About the Movie

John Candy and Richard Lewis star in this hilariously unconventional look at the legendary West. When Phil Taylor (Lewis) and his family decide that the Old West is not what it's cracked up to be, they take the entire town of prosperity with them. Led by wagon master Harlow (Candy), they begin the heroic, backbreaking, danger-filled journey back…East! Along the way, they must survive Indians, hired guns, each other and Harlow's terrible secret.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Wagons East! has the distinction of being Candy's final film, and it is dedicated to his memory. That, unfortunately, is its only distinction. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, May 2, 2014

Rotten: [A] broken-down nag of a movie. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, May 22, 2013

Rotten: Everyone's creative burners were on low heat for this woeful outing. – Todd McCarthy, Variety, May 22, 2013

Rotten: A typically rickety vehicle, just dumb enough that it actually submerges Candy's sweet, perky persona in what's basically a sullen, grizzled straight-man role. – Chris Willman, Los Angeles Times, May 22, 2013

Customer Reviews

For 99 cents it's a good movie.

Honestly, not a bad film and not a great one. But for 99 cents this week it was worth it. Plus it was nice to be able to see John Candy's final film that sadly he died durring the making of it.

Instant classic

This movie was always a favorite. Very funny and definitely worth watching at least once. This will be the 4th time for me!

Ignore the "pros"

Do your self the favor and just read the customer reviews and not the "pros" who wouldn't know a good movie if it was right in front of them.

"Wagons East!" was sadly John Candy's final role as he died before it was completed. This film is really good, it seemed to have a "spaghetti western" feeling to it. You should watch this at the very least once. 5.99 isn't bad for a movie especially a digital download.
