About the Movie

Rachel Bilson (TV's The O.C.) and Tom Sturridge (Pirate Radio) lead an all-star cast in this refreshingly honest and original love story...with superb performances. Sturridge creates a mesmerizing and unforgettable character in Will, the quirky street performer with a free spirit and a heart of pure gold. The object of Will's lifelong affection is Emma (Bilson), the beautiful young actress whom he has never stopped loving since they were childhood sweethearts. But when they reunite, and Will gets swept up in Emma’s complicated past, his innocence and all-consuming passion could cost him everything he’s ever wanted.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: More often than not, I felt suffocated by the gaseous sentimentality and lightheadedness of a story that drops in subplots that it can't begin to develop. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Aug 9, 2011

Rotten: An indistinct romantic-dramedy-ish something or other. – Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 31, 2011

Rotten: A movie that eludes the viewer's grasp, because it's arguing a position auds will find instinctively wrong. – John Anderson, Variety, Jan 31, 2011

Rotten: With "Waiting for Forever," an insipid contemporary fairy tale about a lovestruck young vagabond shadowing a childhood sweetheart he can't bring himself to approach, we get stalking, juggling and cancer. Happy Valentine's Day! – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Feb 3, 2011

Rotten Tomatoes' poor review of this film....

...just cements my complete lack of confidence in it as a reliable movie critique website. 'Waiting for Forever' is an original story that celebrates the innocence and purity of young love and the triumph of hope over tragic circumstance. The acting is stellar and there are many tender moments that will jerk tears from even the most cynical eyes....well, except of course the snobbish writing staff associated with Rotten Tomatoes. What's wrong with you people? Have you no sense of magic? This is the last time I take RT reviews into consideration.

Forget Rotten Tomatoes!

Waiting for Forever is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Its the basic indie feel where the plot is wrapped in a world extremely relatable yet keeps that feel of fairy tail. It explains the pains of ignorance and how everyone has to eventually grow up but shows that life can always keep a small remnant of childhood bliss through memories and how that stray happiness can put everything into perspective in the present: All you need is the right perspective. While the romance is indirect you wont help but love the ending and how the main characters bond even if the love seems understated. The acting is very good and the plot moves along fast enough to keep your attention. A real life love story yet in one of the most unlikely ways. If you like movies like Juno or It's Kind of a Funny Story then give this one a chance.

wonderful romantic tale

If you enjoy an original romantic tale, this movie is for you

Why the bad reviews from the critics?
Frankly, I'm puzzled. The movie was well crafted with great acting.
In this case, it is the critics who are rotten.
