About the Movie

Celebrate 75 Years of Rebels from 20th Century Fox! Singer. Rebel. Outlaw. Hero. With his driving freight-train chords, steel-eyed intensity and a voice as dark as the night, the legendary "Man in Black" revolutionized music - and forged his legacy as a genuine American icon. Golden Globe winners Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon star (and sing) as Johnny Cash and June Carter in this inspiring true story of one man's unwavering devotion to his sound, his message and the greatest love of his life.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: [Director] James Mangold's mostly excellent Walk the Line is designed as a Christian epic. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: A Johnny Cash biopic equally packed with music and frustrated love, Walk the Line goes from compelling to enthralling. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: If Walk the Line isn't the full story of Johnny Cash, it's at least a crucial corner of it, a way of coaxing a legend down to a human scale, without shrinking that legend away to nothingness. – Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Walk the Line is absolute standard biopic stuff, so familiar that it blatantly echoes last year's Ray, which similarly failed to do justice to the legendary Ray Charles. – Tom Long, Detroit News, Jun 24, 2010

Johnny who?

This movie really came into its own. Phoenix and Witherspoon both created their own characters of Johnny Cash and June Carter. They both played the role well and their singing was amazing. It was as if they were the artists themselves. I would highly recommend this movie to music lovers of all kinds.
