Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: To borrow from a term for the gritty, working-class British dramas that this film also nods to, it's a kitchen-sink caper.
Fresh: An overlong Northern British heist caper with a wildly uneven tone and a needlessly scrambled narrative, but it suggests a higher intelligence beneath, waiting to flower down the road.
Rotten: It creates two admirably entertaining storytelling strands - one a friendship saga, the other a robbery caper - yet can't merge the two successfully.
Fresh: An engaging, intelligent, character-driven addition to the well-pillaged heist genre.
First ! (Again)
Saw the trailer on iTunes and found out it was available now. I was initially gutted to find to see the rental price and fought with the idia of purchasing it for 5 dollars more. I took a chance and bought it, reasoning that if I liked it, I would have to pay 15 more to buy it. Money well spent. Brilliant work Mr Athale! Clever casting, everyone's performace was great. The dialogue was snappy, believable and funny. Great story all around with twists that I'm not ashamed to say, caught me by surprise. A welcome addition to my collection.
Properly titled movie. Don't waste your money. Not clever at all. Boring.
rock solid heist flick
I feel like there's a brit crime movie released every other month; Wasteland's one of the ones that makes you realize why people keep making films like this. It's quick, well acted, smart, and actually has a satisfying payoff. It stays two steps ahead of you and keeps your attention throughout. Plus it's just feels cool. Good movie, i'd buy not rent b/c like all strong heists it needs a second watch.
