For some, skiing is not just part of life—it’s a way of life. The search for snow shapes not only how they approach the mountains, but also how they approach the world. Whether skiers spend their days dropping first descents in Alaska, lapping the local mountain, or training for the Olympics, they’re part of a community built around a shared passion. The bonds that form from this community transcend continents and cultures, transforming strangers into friends. Way of Life takes you on a journey to the mountains and inside the minds of today’s top athletes. This film explores the origins of skiing in Austria, the search for original lines in Alaska, and the U.S. Freeskiing Team’s quest for Olympic gold. The adventure also leads athletes to the rugged terrain of Jackson Hole and the backcountry of British Columbia as they form a brotherhood that needs no language.
One of the best TGR films.
This movie is one of my all time favorites of TGR's. Despite so many changes in skiing over the last decade, they continue to show what matters most, which is unarguably to have fun in the mountains shredding away. Sage is amazing in this movie! I remember skiing a Eagles Nest once and coming across him and the Collins brothers. This was like a decade ago now, and it is awesome to see exactly the same stoke on his face run after run, year after year in these movies. It was also great to see Ian Macintosh back at it and charging hard. Those AK cliffs he drops were amazing to see. All in all, a great movie, much more than just an adrenaline rush (which it is!), but also provides samples of the freedom of the mountains wherever you are around the world. Even if you hate the mountains and snow, you should buy this movie and convert yourself forever to an amazing way of life.
The Next Level
TGR continues to push the boundaries of what we consider a great ski flick to be. More so than ever, the level of cinematography has stepped up exponentially, largely due to the introduction of the GSS stabilized camera system and using more RED cameras. The editing is some of the best to date, striking a balance between simplicity and cutting edge, staying away from the industry trend of over-editing to the point it can become unwatchable (ie. Into the Mind). TGR continues to do what they do best, make awesome ski flicks that make you want to go out and shred pow, something that has been lost with other film makers. The Jackson, Austria and AK segments are surely the most memorable. This movie really shows why we live the lifes we do, something non-skiers don't understand. Show this movie to your non-skier friends and they will surely understand our "Way of Life". If you haven't seen this movie yet, SEE IT! You won't regret it.
In a industry that is searching for innovation TGR digs deep to into a core lifestyle. Bringing a fresh style with ground breaking audio and videography. Mix in deep pow the most talented skiers and ooooh snap! it's our Way of Life. Loved every white knuckle breath taking moment of Way of Life. I haven't had such movie stoke since Goonies!
