About the Movie

We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists, takes us inside the world of Anonymous, the radical "hacktivist" collective that has redefined civil disobedience for the digital age. The film explores early hacktivist groups like Cult of the Dead Cow and Electronic Disturbance Theater, then moves to Anonymous' raucous beginnings on the website 4chan. The documentary traces Anonymous’ evolution from merry pranksters to a full-blown movement with a global reach, the most transformative civil disobedience of our time. A FilmBuff Presentation.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The film is most illuminating in showing how democratic practice can still find a new voice and innovative means with each generation. – Nicolas Rapold, New York Times, Oct 18, 2012

Fresh: A cumulative feeling of urgency and you-are-there world-beating are key to the pic's seductive appeal, though lack of informed dissenting opinions reps an unfortunate editorial choice. – Eddie Cockrell, Variety, Oct 16, 2012

Fresh: Strong, entertaining portrait of a hard-to-pin-down online phenomenon. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Oct 16, 2012

Rotten: The doc's straightforward and chronological structure is its own worst enemy. – Tomas Hachard, Slant Magazine, Oct 14, 2012

@Kyles- do you know what they have done? You would NOT call them children or punk kid activist if you know what they have done.

Our founding fathers were revolutionaries and so is this group. It is people like them that shape this country and lead it in the direction that it needs to go in. I highly recommend this eye opening video about these people who not only make a difference in this country but have made a positive impact around the world. Those who speak against them want a static, dying world, without change- change keeps things going.
