About the Movie
When Twisted Sister exploded onto the national music scene in 1983, the foul-mouthed, cross-dressing rabble-rousers became one of the definitive shock metal acts of the 1980s, their infamous live shows drawing rabid sell-out crowds and their music videos establishing an early MTV. But the band that killed disco was hardly an overnight success. WE ARE TWISTED SISTER! is the wickedly entertaining and surprisingly poignant untold story of the ten grueling years spent battling it out in suburban bars and night clubs around Long Island and the Tri-State Area prior to the band's legendary breakout, recounted by the band themselves and the club owners, record executives and rival bands along for the ride.

The Whole Story
Until this documentary, there was no way for those who weren't there - watching Twisted Sister dominate the rock clubs of New York, New Jersey and CT in the '70s and early '80s - to understand why their fans were/are so rabid. Rock was rebellion and Twisted Sister broke all the rules. They brought an arena rock show into small rock clubs every night, complete with a backwall of speaker cabinets, massive sound and light show, an arsenal of guitars, brash custom stage clothes, and a take-no-prisoners attitude that insisted that EVERYONE take to their feet or suffer the consequences. The music industry hated them, the political establishment (including Al and Tipper Gore) hated them, but their army of fans loved them. They were our musical warriors. And an evening with Twisted Sister was guaranteed to overcome the crappiest day at school or work. Through plenty of concert footage, interviews with the band and their fans, this is the real Twisted F*&%ing Sister.
