About the Movie

Sexts, lies, and Carlos Danger: watch the wildest political meltdown in recent history as it unfolds. It's 2013 and Anthony Weiner - still reeling from the sex scandal that ended his political career two years earlier - is back in the spotlight as he mounts an audacious comeback campaign for New York City mayor. But it's not long before history repeats itself and new sexting allegations leave Weiner and his aides scrambling to contain the damage. Granted unfettered access to the candidate and his campaign, filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg capture a jaw-dropping, behind-the-scenes look at the political machine as it breaks down. Winner of the 2016 Sundance Grand Jury Prize.

great documentary!

This great film was about so many things -politics, tenacity, loyalty in marriage, truth, bad choices... and yet to me -the anger, outrage and titillation this sexting provoked was a punishment that didn’t fit the crime. And there was a double standard for Sydney Leathers who played the “victim” though she was a willing participant. Sure, Weiner was a political figure who should demonstrate character and family values but in the end, I liked Anthony Weiner, warts and all. The real issue is America’s intolerance and fascination with any sexual misconduct outside a narrow norm -and if you’re caught outside the box -you’re dead.

Just great (and fun)

Probably the best film ever about politics and the inner workings of a political campaign and one of the funniest and most cringe-inducing films I have ever seen. Love him (and hate him), Anthony Weiner's failed comeback is an amazing riches to rags to riches to rags stories that one just can't make up. Just a great great watch. What was he thinking?

Of course rotten tomatoes gave this over whelming 96%. What about dinesh d'souza documentary why only 4%.
