Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Evanescent and intangible, it dissolves into the air, leaving something tragic and mysterious behind. – Sam Adams, Los Angeles Times, Mar 27, 2015

Rotten: Wendy and Lucy is too laconic to be mistaken for a social drama, but it's set in a land whose harshness seems to a require a stronger critique than Reichardt's vignettes. – Mark Jenkins, NPR, Mar 27, 2015

Fresh: In happy sum, Reichardt is one more of the current American directors, most of them still young, who are endowing our film world with pleasure and hope. – Stanley Kauffmann, The New Republic, Mar 27, 2015

Fresh: The climax is a heartbreaker, and in its haunting finale the movie recalls no less than Mervyn LeRoy's Depression-era classic I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang. – J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader, Mar 27, 2015

Great Simple Film!

Sometimes the best movies are just simple gems with wonderful camera work and simple acting by actors just getting it right.

Very moving story, perfectly acted. A tragic tale of hope, love, helplessness, and ultimately sacrifice. I loved this one! Highly recommended but be warned, it's a bit of a tearjerker.

Such a good story

Michelle Williams was great when she was doing independant films like this one. This was very timely at the start of the recession. Very true for what was happeneing to so many people. This is a great film - so simple and so true.
